August in the August of Life

I was just thinking that ALREADY we are nearly 2/3 of the way through 2022. It seems like just yesterday that I was smoking a brisket on New Year's Day contemplating what will the new year bring, and now, well, I'm thinking about the end of Summer, BUT we still have the rest of August to get through: Lazy summer afternoons, Walks along the beach, Balmy evenings, cloudless skies, Stars just out of reach, Sailing on a quiet lake, Hammocks in the shade… These are the simple treasures Of which August days are made. - Anonymous I was watching my crazy grandkids and their cousins all swimming, and I thought to myself - "what the hell happened to me?" Why don't I do this stuff anymore? Why don't I take advantage and enjoy the perks of retirement - to be that kid again while I have this short window to take advantage? I like the water, I enjoy the outdoors, yet I live like a freaking hermit worrying about things that I can't freaking control. Maybe it's t...

Dummies, Baseball, and a dream place to live

Stupidity . I never claimed to be the smartest man in the world, not even remotely close, but to have two professional sports broadcasters type or say some offensive language is just plain stupid. One types the N-word in a tweet, the other makes a gay slur on a hot mike. People, can we just be professional? How can you even remotely do such stupid shit in these times? There is never a good time to do that period, but especially now – I just don’t understand it. Keep your personal thoughts private and your filthy sewers shut. Baseball . There seems to be some attention on Baseball and not for good things. These last few days alone was Fernando Tatis, Jr. Grand Slam on a 3-0 pitch with the Padres up big. Trevor Bauer and his “free Joe Kelly” cleats, the two Cleveland pitchers bad decision making. Look friends, in my opinion Baseball isn’t some freaking reality show, it’s a game. Focus on that. Focus ...

Tuesday Tantrums - a tribute to Sully

A friend of mine died the other day. We didn’t know each other well, but he was my friend. We’d talk on the phone and laugh and commiserate. We’d try to come up with ideas to make our website better or generate more views. In my mind, Sully was the guy who created our site. He had the ideas, he had the vision that somehow we could be a Barstool-lite. That seemed to be his vision But as with everything, life has different paths for all of us and we all moved on to different things, and from what I’m seeing and hearing, most if not all are doing great, and that in and of itself is a reward, at least to me. We had fun – we talked shit, all electronically. Fuck the mush, let me get to the tantrums. 1. God Pulling Sully. Hey God, I understand everybody needs to come home, I totally get it. But do you need to do it in such a painful way? 2. ...
