Dummies, Baseball, and a dream place to live

Stupidity.  I never claimed to be the smartest man in the world, not even remotely close, but to have two professional sports broadcasters type or say some offensive language is just plain stupid.  One types the N-word in a tweet, the other makes a gay slur on a hot mike.  People, can we just be professional?  How can you even remotely do such stupid shit in these times?

There is never a good time to do that period, but especially now – I just don’t understand it.  Keep your personal thoughts private and your filthy sewers shut.

Baseball.  There seems to be some attention on Baseball and not for good things.  These last few days alone was Fernando Tatis, Jr. Grand Slam on a 3-0 pitch with the Padres up big.  Trevor Bauer and his “free Joe Kelly” cleats, the two Cleveland pitchers bad decision making.

Look friends, in my opinion Baseball isn’t some freaking reality show, it’s a game.  Focus on that.   Focus on Baltimore playing well, Oakland having a hell of a year, Tatis, and so much more ON THE DIAMOND.

Dream place to live.  So while I was on the road visiting my daughter, I saw a lot of questions about – if money were no object and you could only move once, where would you go.  I thought a lot about that because it is an interesting topic.  I’ve had the good fortune to visit 34 states with five more planned for 2021 (CO, NM, TX, OK, AR), and I always found something relatively positive about each and every one, even New York (State, not city).

Some of my more favorite places are Wyoming/Montana and Arizona, but I’m too much of a sissy when it comes to extreme weather.  Same with Minnesota and South Dakota.

When it comes to food, man I absolutely loved everywhere I went.  New York was great, Kansas City was absolutely incredible, Phoenix was good, and South Florida always rocks.

Cost of living?  Well, California ain’t it.  Neither is New York.  While the Midwest makes sense, there’s that weather thing again.

I guess in the end, everywhere has its plusses and minuses but a place I found that I actually love is in Northern Nevada at the foot of the Sierra mountains near Carson City.  It’s green, not populated, ranch area, but close enough to cities where I can get what I need, but with the ability to have open space.  No state income tax that I’m aware of and the climate for the most part is mild.  If there was a drawback, it's too close to the casinos, but I would hope to have enough discipline to not do that much.

Drink.  Last week, I made some Limoncello for the first time.  It’s a bit strong for me (I’m not much for alcohol), but I’ll send it out to some places and see what people think of it.

Speaking of drink with lemons, I read this in the Old Farmers Almanac “Advice of the Day”, which is to drink warm lemonade to reduce a fever.

I think the Bauer and Tatis Jr. stories are important...Tatis is an amazing young talent and the old school mindset is trying to squash that...It's typical of how baseball always shoots itself in the foot...With Bauer, he's out there publicly standing up for a fellow pitcher...A pitcher that was suspended for breaking no rules, while the Astros got off scot-free...Again two more actions that show how baseball is run horribly...Plus, with the whole Astros cheating thing, many people don't look at the whole picture...How many pitchers stats got wrecked by the cheating...Baseball always prides itself on their stats...How many pitchers got sent down, lost jobs and money because the Astros cheated and wacked them? Manfred is making Selig look good...
Clevinger and Plesac are morons and I'm glad the team took a firm stance...
But yes, I'd like to see some coverage of some of the actual good play going on...Anytime Baltimore or Oakland does well, the media blows it off until it's playoff time...They really don't give two shits about most of the medium and smaller markets.
My dream place to live in the U.S. is Leavenworth, Washington...Google image search that wonderful place!
I'd love to spend some time in Ireland and Norway.

Beeze, I made a trip up to Seattle back in January just before all the stuff went down. My wife wanted to go to Leavenworth, but we just didn't have time and that's a shame. We do plan on going back there.

I have no problem with the Bauer thing, I just don't want that type of stuff to overshadow the game. What all the sports seriously don't understand is that people are tired of the "entertainment" aspect of the games at the expense of the actual games. Be it NFL, MLB, or NBA people have grown tired of it. What I find interesting though is that you don't hear about this non-sense in the NHL. I see the allure.
Hockey rules! Plus, it really seems like out of all the leagues they handled and prepared for the COVID mess the best.
