travel and truth

This year, I really need to get away.  I need to unplug and just see something different, and I plan to.

Utah.  Possibility of hitting Ogden/Salt Lake for a game in March - weather permitting, and me being the BBQ honk I am, I'm hitting the Traeger HQ.

Wyoming/South Dakota.  Summer time.  I haven't been to Wyoming in a very long time, and I really want to just go out and enjoy it.  I plan on going to Yellowstone and Devil's Tower.  I want to go back to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills, and Deadwood.  I want to spend some time and maybe learn a bit more about bbq and cooking from my brother in law and maybe drop a few bucks in a casino in Deadwood.

Oklahoma.  Jerry's team currently has a game scheduled at Tulsa, and I've never been to Oklahoma, so ROAD TRIP!!!  New Mexico for the food, same for Texas, and then over to Branson then KC, finally Denver and then back.

Recommendation.  I really think those who read me should spend time checking out "The Beezewax".  He and I rarely agree on politics, but we both actually listen to each other and find common ground elsewhere.

Truth.  We hear a lot about "truth" these days.  Just to start the discussion, "truth" according to Merriam-Webster dictionary means the following:

1a(1)the body of real things, events, and facts ACTUALITY
(2)the state of being the case FACT
(3)often capitalized a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality
ba judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as truetruths of thermodynamics
cthe body of true statements and propositions
2athe property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality
bchiefly British TRUE sense 2
cfidelity to an original or to a standard
3asincerity in action, character, and utterance
barchaic FIDELITYCONSTANCY
4capitalizedChristian Science GOD
in truth
in accordance with fact ACTUALLY

So given these definitions, no wonder there is such a "concern" about truth, particularly the part about a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true.  The definitions alone mean you can twist shit anyway you want it.

So I ask the question again, what is truth?  There's a old joke about lawyers - how do you know they're lying?  Their lips are moving.  Well not only should that include lawyers, it should include politicians, leaders, and media.

Just in case I haven't made it perfectly clear, here's the deal - I fact check.  I look in different places to ensure things before I believe them if I do at all.

By the way, is there a more useless term in the English language then "let me be clear"?

Final Thought.  Trust is gone, but from where I sit, I see better things coming for the future.  My generation fucked shit up so badly, but watching the new generations come up, they aren't constrained by the thoughts of a bygone era.  The point is this - we are chained to stupid ass thought/belief structure and we are chained to them like Jacob Marley is chained to his past.  We aren't open to different options/points of view.  The coming generations?  They are open to them.  They are going to believe what they believe, they aren't going to be held down by said archaic thought.

Like Beeze says:  "Have a week."  and as Springer says:  "Take care of yourselves...and each other."
