Football is Back!!!

NFL.  The season starts tonight.  Can’t wait!!! Even better, the Vikings kicking things off with Green Bay does not suck!!!  Let's go Vikes - SKOL!!!

On to the Vikes, they are going to go as far as Kirk Cousins can take them.  Diggs is gone, but they say the new rookie WR is doing well.  Defense is concerning, particularly in the D-Backfield.

NFL Network, how the hell do you still employ Michael Irvin?  He’s not funny and he doesn’t appear to add anything of value to the broadcasts other than screaming and fronting for Dallas – which by the way isn’t funny anymore – it’s played out.

AFC West.  Denver is another up and coming team, but they need time to gel.  LA once again got hit with the injury bug that’s going to cost them.  Vegas gets 2nd by default, while Kansas City SHOULD keep rolling and win the West.

NFC West.  Arizona is growing and improving, but this year they don’t get out of the cellar.  LA has all kinds of salary cap problems and adding Jalen Ramsey’s insane contract is long-term going to hurt them.  San Francisco has no receivers right now and they got extremely lucky last year – law of averages slows them down this year.  Seattle is steady and I think that they will win the division.

Predictions:

  • AFC Division Winners:  New England, Houston, Baltimore, Kansas City
  • AFC Wild Cards:  Pittsburgh, Buffalo
  • NFC Division Winners:  Philly, New Orleans, Green Bay, Seattle
  • NFC Wild Cards:  San Francisco, Tampa or Minny

Super Prediction?  Hell, I don’t know but you gotta figure Kansas City is going to come out of the AFC, though when you are this big of a favorite it usually has pitfalls.  The NFC is a minefield, but I wonder if somehow it’s Kansas City vs. Green Bay playing in February.

MLB.  Nashville has big plans and somehow they got the impression that they want a MLB team there.  OK, so let’s visit this – how?  It seems to me that the only way for this to happen would be to move a team there.  So, who?  Miami?  Well they still have that billion dollar stadium that they have to pay off.  Tampa makes sense – a damn good team with no stadium.  Oakland is looking to build in downtown and out of the Mausoleum.  Those are always the fashionable names, but one that I would think might be an interesting one in the future could be Arizona?

NBA.  Really Milwaukee, you’re going fishing this early?  Damn.  No sooner is Milwaukee eliminated and ESPiN in their infinite tampering ways are saying that CP3 needs to be in Beer Town with the Greek Freak.  Yeah, that’s just what the NBA needs – another Super Team.  That, and I don’t need CP3 teaching yet another team how to flop – that’s bullshit.

Speaking of super-teams, it's going to be the downfall of ten franchises in the NBA and you may lose one just simply because of the pandemic and shutdown.  That's just a guess, but franchises are suffering.

Props to Miami, who will face either Boston or Toronto.

While I’m on the NBA – there seems to be this debate as to whether or not the NBA’s ratings are bad or good.  Look, there’s no way that you can make that decision right now.  Get back to me when the NBA has a regular season in a normal year, but what I will say is that all sports will suffer – people are starting to realize that they can live without it.

Travel.  There are so many places that I have been fortunate enough to see, but there’s so much of this country left to visit.  I often talk about wanting to visit New England and that’s gonna happen soon hopefully when we visit family.  But the other trip I’m really looking forward to is to Oklahoma next year.  My son has a game there if everything goes back to normal, so we are looking forward to hitting Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.  If anybody has any recommendations of places to stop, I’m listening…

Final Thought.  September 11th being tomorrow, that is what I plan on talking about.
