New York is snowing...and a "Leadership" Rant

Nature Time.  While this particular CBS Sunday Morning Nature Trek was taken in New York, it could just as easily be here.  Pretty Cool.

Speaking of Nature, my friend Sully used to make fun of the media when snow hit Atlanta, and listening to all the reports of snow in New York and Boston must be really irritating him.  'the media is going apeshit because some snow fell on NYC and Boston.  Really?  Are you kidding me?  I'd take the shit a little more seriously if you yapped about Chicago, Minny, and other places when they get hit hard.  C'mon now media...we just had seven feet of snow out here, and you didn't hear word one.

Change.  We claim we want change, yet we REFUSE to do even the easiest things in that direction.  We are lazy and entitled and will do nothing that is even remotely required.  Because of our greed, avarice, manipulation, and get over at all costs, we (my generation) fucked this place up royally for future generations.  We manipulate situations for our own gain rather than work for it.  Being out there for others is nothing but lip service in my generation.

We all want change, we are desperate for it, but the only way that change is going to come is at the grass-roots level.  We truly do have to come together for the common good - Washington, NYC, and the trolls on the Left Coast certainly don't give a rats ass about you or your problem - they're only interested in telling what the problem is and who to blame for it.  I don't have time for that.

"Leadership".  If there is one thing that I have learned as an "adult" it is this:  "Leadership" is a myth and has been for quite some time - it's a term that that has become the very anthesis of what it is supposed to be.  In my opinion, "Leadership" is an abstract concept to be manipulated by those in charge while the rest of those not in leadership look at this and say "this is what being in charge is about?  These are the people who are trying to move us forward?  This can't possibly be the best we have to offer." Leadership is lip-service.
  • "Leadership" trains you to care about subordinates and following rules, but the very second you do so, you get called out.  When as a leader you exercise your own good common sense for the benefit of all, you get into trouble.  And then, when it's time to cut, guess who gets cut first?  That's right, the junior leader who can't move up - leaving the same decision makers in place who got the place into this shit to begin with.
  • "Leadership" always talks about being together towards a common goal and the first thing a non-leader sees is what is going on right now?  Why should anybody believe in so-called "leadership?"
  • "Leadership" yaps non-stop about ethics, and yet how many times have we heard about "leaders" being into some scandalous shit?
  • "Leadership" talks about playing by the rules, but is willing to bend said rules for the sake of not having to hear negativity.  If that doesn't work, manipulation comes into play.
I hope that the next generation understands how screwed up our generation is.  I hope whose who come next ignore the "leadership" of this generation and come together for the common good.  I believe they have a good head on their shoulders.

Final Thought.  This is America, we have it better than so many in the rest of the world, but my generation has really lowered the bar.  I hope they raise the leadership bar from the abstract concept to be manipulated to leadership that is for everybody.

I miss Sully yelling about the southerners loosing it over a dusting of snow! It cracks me up how New York/New Yorkers will always say how tough they are, but NYC shuts down over 18 inches of snow. New York Tough is in Buffalo!

Love the section on Leadership!

Thanks Tim. "Leadership" has given way to "those in charge" and that is a major problem going forward. We are now in an era of "those in charge by being the loudest."
