9/11. Yesterday, I was involved in a 9/11 Candlelight Vigil giving honor to the victims and heroes of 9/11. It was brief, but honorable.
Autumn. We are drawing ever closer to that beautiful
time of year. But first we still have to
get past what I consider to be the final heat.
A poem by Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt said:
It is the Summer’s great last heat,
It is the fall’s first chill: They meet.
As for me, here’s my stab at her poem for us in Northern California:
Refusing to release its grip
September Fires and smoke taking hold
Leaving us to really trip
While wiping our brown with hand on hip
2020 has been horrendous
Nine months of straight trash
Can Autumn at least be tremendous
And sky without ash
And Festival hosts earning that cash
We wait for Autumns first chill
Hoping to bid the heat a hasty adieu
Fall being the season that beckons us up
the hill
To see the leaves, dry with different hue
Ground glistening with morning dew
Please Summer fade to black
Allow autumnal red, orange, and brown
With weather that cuts some slack
with People walking about town
having a hearty laugh, not frown
In any event time will win
We will gain our season of fall
Cool air will begin
Along with the last throws of baseball
Come on Summer, go away don’t stall
NFL. Kansas City looked pretty strong in that win over Houston. I’m not taking anything out of that game as it was against Houston, but they just looked so strong and that rookie RB has just given the Chiefs offense yet another weapon. Good Lord.
CFB. Hey Navy, what was that 55-3 ass-whoopin you took from BYU – at HOME?
Meanwhile today, the GAMEDAY show had that crazy ass Pat MacAfee rolling in. What a clown, but he has good takes unlike some of the other buffoons on the pre-game shows. Glad to see he came in with jacket, tie, and cutoff shorts.
So for the big-time program honks, they won’t care about today’s
schedule – but perhaps this is the chance for the small schools to get some
love. Yes, the ACC will be playing and
so will the Big 12, but why not enjoy some small school games? Army is hosting Louisiana-Monroe and that
could be a good game, same with Charlotte and Appalachian State (a program that
deserves some love by the way).
One game that is kinda piquing my interest is the LA-Lafayette at Iowa
State. Both programs are on the rise and
it certainly is an interesting matchup.
So take some time today to kick back with your favorite beverage and snack, and check some of the small school stuff out – you won’t be disappointed. Hey, it’s Football.
MLB. Mike Trout got to 300 Home Runs, and that’s cool. Do we think this kid can make it to pass Barry Bonds?
I saw a story where the playoffs may be held in Texas (Houston and Dallas) for the AL and SOCAL for the NL, pending Union approval. OK, hold on a minute – I have no problem with Texas, but California doesn’t exactly make sense. We still have a very high COVID rate – so where do you house players to ensure they don’t catch it? Particularly when the Governor isn’t exactly happy to allow things like this?
NBA. So Miami and Boston in the East, and what appears to be an all-LA final in the West that apparently everybody wants. Well, everybody that’s an ESPiN honk that is. My guess is that those schmucks want a Celtics/Lakers final – yet again. Hey ESPiN, been there, done that for the vast majority of the history of the NBA – let’s keep it fresh. Either way, I hope Miami takes it all.
Internet. Many of the websites I go to now detect ad
blockers and they ask me to turn off my ad blocker. Uh, no.
Websites have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will slam the
shit out of you with ads, be it pop up or whatever – completely destroying my
ability to enjoy your stories or whatever.
Just stop it.
Final Thought - Politics. It is amazing to me how so many people are running around saying that this one politician is a liar or that politician is a liar – as if their side is holier than thou. Memo to everybody – you know how a politician is lying? Their lips are moving, and the media allows it. Translated: THEY ALL LIE!!!
