Labor Day Weekend Wrap up

Summer is that time of year where everybody can feel like a kid again - and to me that's the allure.  The BBQ, the pool, being outdoors, and of course trips and vacations.  But now because of the calendar, we reluctantly begin to slowly give way to Autumn (according to the suits – more on those losers later).  To those who can, go out and have the time of your lives while the weather allows, to those who can’t – ignore the stores and their bullshit sales.

Labor Day Weekend.  Memo to those who work – you deserve respect and to be honored – if it wasn’t for you, life would be so much more difficult.  You get up, you go to work and put up with a ridiculous commute then whole lot of shit for pennies on the dollar from disgraceful customers, mid-level bosses who want nothing but their bonus, and leadership who would fire you on the spot if it would save them one penny.

And to those customers, bosses, and suits who regularly disrespect workers who are simply doing their job (especially in retail and food):  FUCK YOU!!!  I don’t believe in boycotts, but I am watching and I damn sure won’t shop at a place where I believe you don’t take care of your workers.  We all have choices – I don’t listen to commercials and you’d better take care of your workers.

Memo to those looking for work but can’t get it because of the greedy bastards and the politicians out there or simply because you don’t know the right people, hang in there, good things will come to you.

Hurricane Dorian.  While I’m handing out FUCK YOU’s, here’s a big NORCAL one to that Hurricane.  Hopefully, the track shows it turning away from Florida, but I truly feel for those in the Bahamas.

CFB.  I watched some College Football because it was two teams I like and once again Boise State goes on the road and punks ANOTHER legacy team.  If there is a FBS program worthy of your respect, Boise State is it.

Meanwhile, I drove down to Berkeley to see UC Davis visit Cal.  Davis jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but got worn down losing 27-13.  Those Aggies from Davis fought hard, and you can see that this is a team not to be trifled with in FCS.  Learn and build Aggies.

Paul Finebaum you certified SEC Honk, for you to say that because of Notre Dame’s showing in the playoffs last year that they should never be allowed back into the dance or a five year probation?  Just wondering if the same applies to Alabama after Clemson punked them 44-16?

MLB.  Can’t help but get excited for the Oakland A’s owning the Evil Empire, but then came Sunday and pissing away that 4-0 in the 8th and 9th to those lowly Stankees.  I have a bad feeling about that loss as there is three teams fighting for two Wild Card spots and all only being 1.5 games apart.  Games like Sunday only hurt, especially when Tampa has won five in a row and Cleveland continues with the White Sox.

I’m still pimping the Minnesota Twins who are now back up to a 5.5 game lead over Cleveland as Labor Day is ending.  Jesus those guys can mash, but my goodness you have to hope that the pitching can hold up and I personally am worried about their relief pitching.

Props to Justin Verlander for throwing his third career no-no.  A funny comment I read was that he has all that success in Baseball and he’s married to one of the hottest women on the planet.  Fans can be so jealous…

NFL.  Mercifully for fans, pre-season is over.  Now the NFL and the NFLPA have 11 months to figure the August crap out.  Fans and young players deserve better.    Don’t screw this up NFL/NFLPA.

I see that Houston has now traded Jadaveon Clowney to Seattle, then got Tunsil and Kenny Stills from Miami.  I’m thinking it should be enough to win the division, but I can’t see how they win the AFC with these changes.

Buffalo lets go of Shady McCoy who ends up in KC?  Wow, I’m going to be curious how KC works him into all that talent.

As for KC, I want them to win, but I sure would like to see them play some defense.

Oakland, four QB’s?  Really?  This is why nobody takes you seriously.  Oh wait, isn’t this the same shit Chucky pulled in Tampa?  C’mon Chucky…

The Minnesota Vikings are going to need to be on point this season as the Defense is at their peak.  I sure hope that the O-Line can hold up especially with that commitment to the run.

Miami is now the latest organization in sports to go with “the process” though they claim they aren’t tanking.  I would tend to agree and Miami getting the draft picks is a good thing.  Problem is that New Orleans and Houston picks will be between 22-32.  But hey, multiple early round picks in 2020 and 2021 is going to be huge.

BBQ.  Threw some baby backs on the grill last night along with some Sonora Dogs.
Sooo good.  Tomorrow it’ll be marinated tri-tip and I’ve got some Shrimp I am planning to do something with.  Any advice is appreciated.

Final Thought.  So I go back to the opening thought – Labor Day weekend – the so-called “end of Summer.”  First off, that’s a freaking marketing concept created by a bunch of retail suits who NEVER put on a pair of jeans, NEVER sweated out the end of a pay period, and most of whom NEVER worked in the trenches.  Quite frankly those suits couldn’t last a week on the floor, and more likely a day.

To those who are employed and bust your butt for a paycheck not level to your worth and toiling in obscurity struggling to make it while your bosses and the suits above them make obscene amounts of cash they’ll never spend, for what it’s worth, you are appreciated.

In the end, Summer is a state of mind – your own.  Don’t let dickhead marketing schumucks tell you when things are over – they’re over when you say they are, not some suit behind a desk in a corporate office.

Now stop reading my shit and go out and enjoy your life.
