Tuesday Tantrums for August 25, 2020

 

Yep, 2020 is a flaming pile of crap - and it just is piling on, isn't it?  

NBA.  To watch Luka Doncic play only to know that as a Kings fan they passed on him with the #2 pick is just infuriating.  If it wasn’t for the New York Knicks, the Kings would be the flagship for ineptness in the NBA.

Fires.  The fires here in NORCAL have been insane.  The smoke and ash haven’t gone away and on Sunday Night, we started a new round of dry thunderstorms with lightning and winds with possibly more on Monday Night.  Today, had to make a run to the next town over and the smoke was pretty freaking bad. 

Thanks to all of the firefighters from everywhere who came here to handle the business.  

Post Office.  OK, putting on my business hat, it is my understanding that the Post Office operates at a deficit and has done it forever.  Secondly, the vast majority of what I receive in the mail is junk mail.  Finally, and this won’t be popular with some – if it is true that the Postal Service Union has endorsed Biden (for whatever reason), questions can be raised about how secure ballots could be, particularly in battleground states. 

I saw a compromise that might make some semblance of sense, which is this.  Get your ballot, vote, then hand carry it to your elections commission or whoever is in charge of it.

Kenosha.  There are few people who support the police more than I, but Holy freaking shit, are you kidding me with what happened in Kenosha?  Last year, I would have said let’s wait for the facts to come out, but damn just watch that video.  I saw it and was horrified.  Shooting him in the back?  SEVEN FREAKING TIMES???  There were at least four cops there, you mean to tell me you couldn’t use a less lethal way to hold him down? 

It is LONG PAST time to have actual ACTION on this.  We need REAL solutions to this problem.  Better training, better screening of police candidates, and supervisor cops being more "hands on" with beat cops.  Maybe a roving trainer out in the field not to mention a roving SGT and LT/CAPT at all times - maybe even rolling with some at times, and perhaps some kind of psych checks.  

Another thing I want to see?  Take some of the weight off of cops.  Stop wasting cops time with writing bullshit traffic tickets.  Unless somebody is being so far out of control with their vehicle or impaired, don’t waste their time on that crap.  Don't pull a dude over for a cracked windshield/broke tail light.

To those screaming for change?  YOU’RE RIGHT!!!  But you can also be part of the solution by being a part of law enforcement.  Be a cop or if you don’t want to do that, be part of a neighborhood watch, or volunteer in any other way. Maybe participate on the Civilian Review Boards.  Hell, do something.  A wise man told me have a solution.  

One other thing – Cops aren’t social workers and should not expect to be.  Domestic Violence is most definitely a problem, and maybe a solution is to have social workers on call to go to the site with a cop (who will have clear, unambiguous rules to their participation).  Firefighters have EMT’s, why can’t cops have Social Workers to rely on to perhaps help talk a situation down?

 

KFC.  OK, this is absolutely stupid.  KFC is temporarily suspending its “finger licking good” catch phrase on advertising for the forseeable future due to the ‘rona.  Now this appears to be over in the UK, Netherlands, South Africa, Canada, and parts of Asia, the middle east, and North Africa, but really. 

RNC.  OK, now it’s time for the verbal diarrhea from the Republiturds.  Now when I saw who was going to speak, I flipped out.  You idiots are making the same damn mistakes. Six people with the name of Trump are going to speak?  YGBSM.
